As Hardscape Group’s Managing Director Alex is responsible for making sure that everything works as it should do. With an overview of production, design, procurement, logistics and research and development, Alex ensures that Hardscape Surfaces continues to push the boundaries of what is possible when it comes to applying state-of-the-art production processes onto a wide range of materials. Having served as Operations Director for 20 years, his involvement throughout the business and broad skill set, makes him the perfect choice to lead the Hardscape Group into a new era, while continuing to embody the energy and passion Mathew instilled in every aspect of the business for decades. As well as being a family man, outside of Hardscape Surfaces, Alex is still a keen footballer, playing socially though these days. He also tries to pass on some of his football knowledge by volunteering with a local community youth club, actively involved in coaching their junior football teams.

Mathew has always looked for the materials to use in the ‘macro’ and advising the optimum material choice to suit function at every scale. This has been underpinned by a thorough understanding of the materials’ technical properties that can fulfil their use and performance for any given project. Within the ‘macro’ there also has to be the ‘micro’ to create an artistic attraction by everyone involved. Mathew also encourages innovation, in both concept design and production, sanctioning the investment in incredible craftsmen and women and unique state-of-the-art machinery that can produce ‘unseen before’ treatments, embellishments and results. Mathews mantra is “Of course we can do that!” A famous quote from Muhammed Ali: “Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” By way of an update as of September 2022 Mathew announced that having served as Managing Director for 28 years, he stepped into the role of Founding Director and appointed Alex Warren as the new Managing Director of the Hardscape Group. Having served as Operations Director for 20 years, his involvement throughout the business and broad skill set, has made him the perfect choice to lead the Group into a new era, while continuing to embody the energy and passion Mathew instilled in every aspect of the business over the decades.

Anthony joined the Hardscape Group as a Project Co-ordinator in 2004 whilst at University. After graduating in 2005 he joined the team full-time and became Logistics Manager. Towards the end of 2006 he moved into a sales position as North West Sales Manager and developed the role to greater success and accomplishment for the company. In August 2014 Anthony was promoted to UK Senior Sales Manager being directly responsible for all UK – North sales, managing his own area whilst overseeing and managing sales activities of the North of England and Scotland. In November 2019 Anthony was invited to join the Hardscape Group board as Sales Director responsible for the companies post tender sales functions and order intake. This role has since become encompassing to sister company Hardscape Surfaces to oversee and direct the sales process with the current Hardscape Surfaces Sales Manager. A keen golfer and Liverpool FC fan, Anthony shares the enthusiasm and vision that the Hardscape Group has in consistently pushing boundaries within the hard landscaping industry and new market areas with Hardscape Surfaces, to allow architects, designers of all disciplines achieve their ideal schemes and projects.

Chris joined Hardscape in May 2014 as Group Accountant to provide additional support to the finance team. Chris has spent over 10 years in the construction industry and associated specialist trades and has experience of implementing several large manufacturing systems packages. In October 2015 Chris became Group Financial Director. Outside of work Chris is a keen long-distance runner and has recently signed up for his first Triathlon. A Manchester United season ticket holder he is hoping for better times after the Ferguson era!

Graham joined Hardscape Surfaces as Group Operations Director in June 2026, bringing extensive experience across a broad range of disciplines within the construction and built environment sectors. With a strong background in operational leadership, process improvement and strategic delivery, he is focused on driving efficiency, performance and sustainable growth across the Hardscape Group. A graduate of the University of Bolton with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering, Graham combines technical expertise with a people-focused approach, helping ensure that operations, innovation and business objectives work seamlessly together. Passionate about continuous improvement, he is committed to supporting Hardscape’s Vision of Building Amazing Places through excellence in delivery, collaboration and long-term value creation. Outside of work Graham is a keen Crown Green bowler and plays throughout the Northwest. Family time is also spent on the football terraces and is a long-suffering Blackburn Rovers season ticket holder.

Vit joined Hardscape Surfaces in 2005 working at our original Long Marston site near Stratford-upon Avon. Vit is our General Manager and oversees all operations and staff through Hardscape Surfaces Logistics North depot near Bolton. Vit enjoys sailing in his spare time and traveling around the world when safe to do so.

Stephen joined Hardscape as Operations Manager in June 2022. He arrived at Hardscape with over 20 years’ experience of People Management, Health & Safety, and Management Systems compliance, fitting in perfectly with the company’s responsibility strategies for the future. Stephen is an affiliate of IOSH and has a NEBOSH Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, understanding the methods to improve and benefits of a strong Health and Safety culture. He cares passionately for the environment and has a personal mission to leave the planet in a better place for future generations. He particularly has an affinity for all animals and enjoys wildlife documentaries, walking with his family and dog, camping trips, and attending country shows. He also has a love of quizzes, and his specialist subjects include his love of 80’s music, science fiction movies – especially Harry Potter, and the natural world.

Pedro joined the Hardscape Surfaces team in March 2017 as a CNC Production Programmer. With over 13 years in the masonry industry, he has developed a true passion for the trade as well as great experience as a CNC programmer and team leader. This commitment and passion has led his responsibilities to fulfil his current role as Production Manager at our depot and production facilities at Logistics North near Bolton. In his spare time Pedro likes to let his inner child out and has many competitive gaming sessions with his friends! He also loves all good food and ventures often into the world of fine cuisine and cooking.

Daniel joined Hardscape Surfaces in May 2013 as Logistics Co-ordinator working within the logistics team and comes with experience in account management from various industries such as electronics and banking. In December 2016 Dan moved to our now superseded Long Marston depot and warehouse facility to assist our General Manager, Vit Bohac as Depot Supervisor and Health & Safety Co-ordinator. In 2019 Dan joined the team at our Logistics North depot as Distribution Co-ordinator and in April 2021 became Yard Manager. Dan loves being at the gym, taking part in charitable activities such as the Great North Run for Bupa, white collar boxing events and even dragon boat racing! He’s even played 5-a-side football with Eric Cantona.

Nathan joined Hardscape Surfaces in July 2017 as a Design Co-ordinator. Nathan’s main duties consists of producing programs for the various manufacturing machines and producing design drawings for customers. He works closely alongside Production Manager, Pedro Leal and Production Co-ordinator, Heather Dean at the Logistics North depot, near Bolton. Outside of work he enjoys the occasional city break and visiting English heritage sites. Nathan also enjoys hiking around his local area and going to the gym.

Sam joined Hardscape Surfaces in December 2020 as Creative Co-ordinator after previously working for a car care company within the marketing department for 7 years. Sam collaborates closely with the team at Logistics North developing our 3D modelling capabilities and recreating designs on surfaces of all types of material shapes and sizes. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially going for walks in the countryside, mountain biking, the odd round of golf whilst endeavouring to watch every type of sport possible including supporting his favourite football team, Manchester United.

Heather joined Hardscape Surfaces in September 2019 as Sales Co-ordinator and gained valuable experience that led to a move to the challenging role of Project Co-ordinator in September 2020. Whilst developing her career within the engineering industry, both in Europe as a Process Improvement Manager and in the UK with roles in civil & structural, electrical and process automation, Heather also gained a 1st class honours degree in Business Management in 2011 at Chester University. In her spare time Heather loves family walks with her Dachshund finding new places to visit, preferably sunny ones, and is a keen DIY enthusiast who just loves finding things for upcycling projects which ties in perfectly with her home improvement plans for the family bungalow.
